Zoe Briskey will be releasing her new album “Ultra Desire” on 11/10/23. Based in the concept of desire, it connects universally to the drive in all of us. Backed by upbeat synth pop hooks and early-2000s guitar licks, “Ultra Desire” elicits names like Slayyyter or early Hannah Diamond, written and self-produced by a queer female artist.
Hailing from New York City, Zoe Briskey is one of the most exhilarating electronic-pop artists of this generation. Her clever and caring nature can be felt through her lyrics, which center around queer love and the discovery and empowerment of oneself. Self-built, self-funded, and self-produced, she is intoxicating to be around, unabashed in who she is, and unafraid to be herself, both in life and in her music.
The songs on “Ultra Desire” tell a story about exploring the vulnerability that comes with desire from the universal experiences of longing, frustration, love, lust, and ambition. The songs are simple in structure, with surprisingly personal and vulnerable lyrics. With hum-worthy melodies and playful, bright sounds, you will find yourself returning to certain lines and hooks again and again. On “Ultra Desire,” Zoe says: “‘Ultra Desire’ is a love story. It's a record about the energy inside me and in all of us. I began writing about this concept after meeting my girlfriend at a random gig I played. I felt an energy I soon labeled as ‘Ultra Desire,’ which is the place from which we create, love, and tap into light.”
“Better Than Ur Boyfriend” is the first single off of Zoe Briskey’s upcoming EP “ULTRA DESIRE,” a concept album about the desire inside that drives all of us. “Better Than Ur Boyfriend” is a queer pop punk song about being in love with someone who is in a relationship with a toxic boyfriend. Layered with early-2000s guitar licks and backed by a new synthetic sound, “Better Than Ur Boyfriend” elicits names like blink-182 and Machine Gun Kelly, except this time, these words are being sung by a queer female artist.
Hailing from New York City, Zoe Briskey is one of the most exhilarating electronic-pop artists of this generation. Musically, she synthesizes mainstream pop punk with an experimental electronic touch. Her clever and caring nature can be felt through her lyrics, which center around queer love and the discovery and empowerment of oneself. Self built, self funded, and entirely self produced, she is intoxicating to be around, unabashed in who she is, and unafraid to be herself, both in life and in music.
On “Better Than Ur Boyfriend,” Zoe says: “I wrote this song about a girl I started dating who was getting out of a relationship with this guy who was terrible to her. One day, I asked her what her favorite flower was and she said she didn’t know because she had never been given flowers. After she left, I wrote this song and got her flowers the next day.”
"Heart Juice" is Zoe's self written, produced, and performed debut electropop record. On the creation of her album, Zoe says, “‘Heart Juice’ is quite literally the juices seeping out of my heart. If you were to wring out my heart and have its essence drip out, the music on this record is what you would get. Essentially, the listener is drinking my heart juice.”
